To find very good expired domains, I usually use the provider domcop.com. Here you can sort the domains according to the most important criteria. After logging in, simply click on Moz DA (MOZ Domain Authority) at the top and you will receive a list of the best domains. Before buying such a domain, please pay attention to the SEO metrics, because these have a considerable significance for the domain strength.
The auction and the subsequent payment of the purchase price are handled straightforwardly via GoDaddy.com. The fact is that several thousand new domains are added every day. There are currently several million expired domains worldwide.
Which SEO metrics are relevant for a high trust domain?
The quality of a domain is determined by very specific SEO metrics, which are determined on the basis of the incoming links (backlinks). To get detailed information about the backlinks and the anchor texts, I recommend the SEO tool Majestic SEO. With this tool, you can also check the trust flow and the citation flow of a domain.

Backlinks:
Many backlinks (at least 80) from different IPs (unique IPs) are important. Analyse the backlinks with the SEO tool Majestic SEO. This tool displays the strongest backlinks directly on page 1. Strong backlinks should have a trust flow and a citation flow above 10 and (ideally) come from the content of a homepage. Make sure that the first 10 backlinks do not come from article directories or low-quality sites. Backlinks from .edu or .gov domains are also a positive indicator, as these domains enjoy a high level of trust.
Anchor Text:
In principle, the anchor texts (link texts) should consist mainly of the URL and the proper name (over 60%). This means that a natural link profile can be assumed. Any additional anchor text should not exceed 10% in the diagram. Check the ratio of the anchor text with the SEO tool Majestic SEO. Make sure that there are no Chinese characters in the anchor text.

These values can be taken as indicators of a high level of trust on the part of Google. You can therefore be sure that you are acquiring a top domain that will be very useful for marketing your domain/website.
What did you want to pay attention to before and after the purchase?
Before buying:
- Does an expired domain have a high domain trust? (Credibility and trust by Google!)
- How many and which backlinks point to this domain? (High-quality backlinks = important ranking factor!)
- Do the anchor texts have a natural link profile? (This will prevent you from being penalised by Google!)
After the purchase:
If you have two or more expired domains, you should make sure to host them on different providers. This way, each domain has its own IP, which means that Google cannot recognise any connection between the domains.
Never link the expired domains to each other.
Make sure to vary the anchor texts (link texts) of the backlinks. Example for three different anchor texts: 1. URL 2. proper name 3. word group incl. most important keyword.
Create the robots.txt file and upload it to the root directory. This way, no SEO crawlers and thus no competitors will find out about your link network. For the CMS WordPress, I recommend the plugin Spyder Spanker.
Procedure after purchasing a High Trust Domain
1. Install WordPress (max. 5 minutes).
2. Install a nice theme (e.g. from elegantthemes.com or wordpress.org).
3. Install the WordPress plugin Spyder Spanker. This plugin ensures that all crawlers/bots are blocked. This means that your competitors have no way of finding out about your network or your expired domains.
4. Install the WordPress plugin 404 to start. Since the subpages of the previous website no longer exist, the existing links and thus also the link power naturally go nowhere. With this plugin, the Google crawler is automatically redirected to your homepage when accessing the supposedly old pages. Thus, the link power remains completely intact.
5. Create content for your actual website/domain on your expired domain. Write a great article about your site and place 2-3 backlinks with different anchor text to your project in the article. The article should also contain other important words from your site so that Google recognises a direct connection. Think of it as a letter of recommendation! Write more articles as you go along. In addition, write the most important keywords for your project in the title (title tag), in the description (meta tag description) and in the headline(s).
6. Google will weight the content and the backlinks it contains accordingly. Have a little patience!
