PET
PET is a Swiss association that has been involved in the collection and disposal of PET drinks bottles since 1990. With a recycling rate of 75%, PET has established a nationwide disposal network for PET beverage bottles. Over the course of 25 years, PET has increased its recycling rate to 82% and is considered a pioneer in international comparison. A study by Carbotech AG shows that PET recycling in Switzerland makes an important contribution to environmental protection. ONELINE has developed a gamification website for PET to increase visitor engagement and further promote PET’s success.
Target setting
The aim of the branding campaign was to raise awareness of the PET cycle among as many people in Switzerland as possible. This includes educating people about the PET bottle cycle in order to motivate as many people as possible to take PET disposal seriously and dispose of it properly. ONELINE has taken on this goal in co-operation with its design partner Rosarot.

We implemented the PET cycle in a playful way in combination with a competition. To do this, we developed a gamification website based on WordPress that symbolises the cycle of a PET bottle in five steps. Knowledge and playful skill were required. At the end of the game, players could take part in a competition for the chance to win attractive prizes. The website was programmed in close collaboration with the customer and our design partner and was further developed according to their requirements and ideas.

Gamification has proven to be an effective way to increase user engagement and interaction on online platforms. An excellent example of this is pet.ch, which has integrated playful elements into its website to enrich the customer experience. By incorporating reward systems, progress bars and interactive challenges, pet.ch motivates its customers to regularly visit and actively use the platform. This strategy not only leads to increased customer loyalty, but also promotes a positive brand perception.
