    Mobile marketing has become increasingly important in the world of digital marketing. In 2015, the share of mobile data traffic was already 31 %. This share has continued to rise in recent years. In 2021, the share of mobile data traffic is 54 %. This means that mobile devices have overtaken desktop computers as the most-used device for accessing the Internet.

    Mobile marketing describes the marketing measures taken to target and reach users and customers on mobile devices. One of the most important aspects in this endeavor is a mobile-friendly website. Other important aspects are listed below.

    Price search engines

    Another point to bring your products to the customers is price search engines. Here, products from different vendors are sorted by price and listed to the customer. You surely know one or the other price search engine, such as Ebay, Toppreise, Amazon or Ricardo, and have certainly already shopped on these platforms yourself.

    Cost models

    The price search engines work either in a click price model or with a commission model, where you pay a certain percentage of the value of the goods to the price search engine.

    My experience has shown that the click price model is usually up to 70% cheaper than the commission model. The reason for this is obvious. By listing all the necessary points such as product name, price, shipping costs and delivery time, the customer knows exactly what he is looking for and what he wants. The comparison of the products is in focus here and one does not have to search the Internet for competing products. For this reason, every click usually leads to a sale – logical, isn’t it?

    Check the cost of the clicks. Usually you buy clicks in the pre-pay model and have a number of clicks on your account.

    Advantages

    Besides the additional customers, the value of the backlink, which should not be underestimated, is another advantage. This has a positive impact on the search engine ranking and therefore you should use it.

    Branding is another advantage with which you can profit in price search engines. Customers see the brand as well as the products. This saves you the advertising costs for another branding campaign.

    Be mobile, because your customers are too! True to this motto, you can control your online marketing measures precisely on smartphones and other mobile devices to address your customers on the go.

    With Google Ads, for example, you can turn your search ads into mobile text ads with a little “tick”. In conjunction with a call ad, your customers can click on the phone number listed on the ad to contact you directly.

    You can also use Google Display campaigns to display banners explicitly for mobile devices. Such campaigns are very popular and do not cost much, because the ads are automatically played on apps as well. Of course, such a mobile campaign is only successful if your website is also mobile-responsive, which it surely is…!

    For your project, you need to prepare your campaigns for smartphones and other mobile devices so that you can target your potential customers everywhere. Depending on the project, mobile campaigns can be helpful for you to attract customers to your store. Using geo-targeting, you define a campaign with a radius of 5-10 km and offer a great deal.

    Pictures say more than a thousand words – and a thousand pictures make a forty second video. Thus, it is clear that a video conveys much more than a single image. Information, understanding and even emotions can be conveyed in a video sequence.

    As you have surely also experienced, a customer decides around 95% emotionally and 5% rationally whether to buy your product or not.

    Example: I buy a Lamborghini Aventador. This happens almost only for emotional reasons, but if someone asks me for the reason, I will mainly mention only rational reasons like power, technology, speed and many more.

    So you see that we decide our purchases emotionally and justify them rationally. Ask your girlfriend why she needs to buy another pair of shoes, or why your friend needs new rims on his new car?

    For this reason, use videos and Youtube ads for your release.

    Create videos

    I have never worked with video editing programs before, because it was too much work for me. For a product presentation I wanted to dare the step and have entered the world of video editing.

    With the video program from Adobe – After Effects and the tutorials on YouTube I started my project and already after four hours I created a forty second video. At Themeforest, you can buy pre-made video building blocks for cheap and just edit the content. This simplifies the whole thing.

    Videoupload

    After you have created your video, you can upload your artwork to YouTube, embed it on your site and present it. Use the title and tags to place your most important keywords. Also in the description you can add the URL to your page and other important keywords.

    VR Video – Virtual Reality Videos

    You may have already had the opportunity to watch VR videos (virtual reality videos) on YouTube with your smartphone, interactive and motion-detecting features, and get the impression that you are on location. These 360-degree videos are interesting video features through which, using a desktop, tablet or a smartphone and virtual reality glasses, you can easily immerse yourself in a digital world and change your point of view and discover the environment with specific head movements.

    So you’re digitally in the front row of a concert, on the beach in the Maldives, or on a roller coaster without even having to leave your room. I think this new feature will shake up many industries. It will allow a hotel to display its entire complex interactively. The future visitor can look at the lobby, the rooms, the pool area and much more digitally on his device and thus already has a first impression of what to expect.

    I regularly support my friends at Rentalux with online projects like Google Ads, SEO or analytics. Rentalux rents in Switzerland, luxury and sports cars, like Lamborghini Aventador, Gallardo, Ferrari Italia, Mercedes SLS, McLaren and many more. So I suggested them to capture a ride in a Lamborghini Aventador, in a VR video, to give the customers already digitally the first impression of a ride. We developed this idea further in such a way that we made the planning the same for all luxury and sports models. Now the customer can get into the car digitally beforehand, without leaving the room.

    VR video recording devices are available everywhere nowadays and cost between CHF 350.- to CHF 900.-. Use this idea for your mobile marketing measures and give your target group an additional added value.

    Newsletter Marketing

    Probably one of the cheapest and best known online marketing measures is the sending of newsletters. Provided you have a wide address pool, which can and may be used for the newsletter campaign.

    Basically, there are newsletter tools galore. The question is, to how many recipients you want to send a newsletter campaign. Tools like MailChimp offer here simple and web-based possibilities to create a newsletter easily and professionally.

    However, for a newsletter to be successful, you need to consider some important points:

    • Recipients must actively sign up for the newsletter. This means that you do not buy outside addresses.
    • The subject must be inviting and not promotional.
    • Avoid certain keywords in the subject, which could indicate spam.
    • Call-to-actions in the subject line are desirable (example: Profit now).
    • The newsletter content must be informative and exciting, i.e. offer added value.
    • Avoid pure product presentations
    • Analyze when the sending time is most optimal (when is the opening rate high).
    • Analyze already sent newsletters and compare them with each other.

    What do you notice? Whether a newsletter campaign is successful or not depends on several factors, which can only be identified through analysis (time, subject text, image selection, content, call-to-action).
