The ability to work digitally from anywhere in the world has become increasingly common in recent years, and it’s a trend that shows no signs of slowing down. With advances in technology and internet connectivity, it is now possible to work remotely and achieve the same level of productivity and quality as you would in the office.

Despite a 7-hour time difference and nearly 12,000km of distance, I am able to stay connected and maintain regular exchanges with my team and clients through various communication tools, such as Slack and Microsoft Teams. As an online marketing agency, our work activities already take place digitally for the most part. This means that I can carry out any processes and activities without interference regardless of location, and can access all the necessary resources and programs.
Another advantage of location-independent working is flexibility. A combination of flexible and fixed working hours allows me to arrange my working time in such a way that I don’t miss the good waves for surfing, but at the same time, ensure that our customers know when they can reach me if they have any questions.
Besides, the change of scenery was refreshing and has sparked new creativity and productivity. The natural beauty of the island, the relaxed lifestyle and the friendly locals have created a great working and living environment for me.
In summary, working from Bali has been an enriching experience so far. Being able to work digitally from anywhere in the world has allowed me to continue working for a great online marketing agency while enjoying the beauty and culture of this tropical paradise. And as the trend of remote work continues to grow, it’s becoming clear that location no longer has to be a barrier to producing quality work and actively contributing to a company’s success.
Still, remote work does come with some drawbacks. Even though I stay in close contact with my teammates, there is a lack of direct interpersonal exchange. ONELINE has a rich team culture, where the team meets regularly and has lunch together (for example, on our infamous Pizza Thursday), plays Fifa and organizes amazing team and customer events. Unfortunately, I miss out on all these things. But as we all know: you can’t have it all.
